Autodesk Kynapse

Autodesk Kynapse

Autodesk® Kynapse® middleware is a leading artificial intelligence (AI) solution for game development and real-time simulations adopted for more than 80 AAA game titles.
This high-performance AI engine supports 3D pathfinding in destructible environments, including large-crowd pathfinding in complex terrains, dynamic 3D topology analysis, and team coordination. And, with its efficient production tools and architecture designed for easy integration and customization, Kynapse helps to streamline the process of creating top-quality console and PC games.

Autodesk Kynapse for Games
Autodesk® Kynapse® middleware is the world's most widely used artificial intelligence (AI) engine in game development. It has been adopted for more than 80 AAA titles, including Alone in the Dark 5, Crackdown, Fable 2, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Sacred 2, and The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. See a more complete list of game titles that use Autodesk Kynapse.

Spatial Awareness for NPCs
Designed to give nonplayer characters (NPCs) spatial awareness so that they can realistically navigate digital environments, this high-performance engine supports dynamic 3D pathfinding, 3D topology analysis, and team coordination. In addition to 3D pathfinding, its highly advanced pathfinding capabilities include dynamic environment evaluation and support for large-crowd pathfinding in complex terrains. With its efficient production tools and architecture designed for easy integration and customization, Kynapse streamlines the process of creating quality console and PC games.

Extensive Gaming Platform Support
Kynapse can be licensed for Sony PLAYSTATION®3, PSP® (PlayStation® Portable), and PlayStation® 2; Microsoft Xbox 360® and Xbox®, and Nintendo® consoles as well as PC (Windows® and Linux® operating systems). Kynapse has also been fully integrated into the Unreal® Engine 3 developed by Epic Games, and Autodesk is a member of Epic's Integrated Partner Program. Versions of Kynapse have also been integrated into the Vision Engine (Trinigy), GameBryo™ (Emergent Game Technologies), and Virtools™ (Dassault Systèmes) game engines.

Autodesk Kynapse for Simulation
Autodesk® Kynapse® middleware is a widely used artificial intelligence (AI) engine that can be utilized to create highly realistic military, security, industrial, and urban planning simulations.
B-Have, an AI module based on Autodesk Kynapse, is also available in the MÄK Technologies VR-Forces® computer-generated forces (CGF) application. This module offers the main functionalities of Kynapse and is fully integrated and accessible within the VR-Forces interface.
Kynapse technology is also available as a plug-in for Dassault Système’s Virtools™ technology.

Military Applications
Kynapse is an invaluable tool for creating military simulations, including
• Training, mission planning, or mission rehearsal for military or peacekeeping operations, including Military Operations on Urban Terrain (MOUT), Close Quarters Combat or Close Quarters Battle, and Indirect Fire
• Firearm training, convoy training, and driving simulators for military vehicles and helicopters
• Simulation-based acquisition, including simulations for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and missile systems
• Network-centric operations, including operators' training and system evaluation

National Security and Safety Applications
Kynapse can help you generate simulations to study emergency preparedness and first response intervention for
• Municipal and regional emergencies
• Public buildings
• Sensitive areas, such as power plants and other high-security locations

Industrial and Architectural Applications
Simulations can play an important role in researching areas of interest to architects, urban planners, and industry.
• Kynapse can be used to create pedestrian and vehicle traffic simulations for preliminary design studies, or operation planning and training. It can also be used in the creation of driving simulators (cars, trucks, and buses).
• Kynapse can be used for traffic studies, 3D accessibility evaluation, and 3D visualization of urban projects.
